Get to know me

Hi there, I’m Sara Mikolajczyk, a third-year Product Design and Technology student at the University of Limerick.

Why do I want to design

As soon as I started thinking about pursuing product design as a career, I realised that there are many great perks associated with this field. However, I also discovered that designers have a great impact on the world and can accomplish a lot without ever getting bored. It's definitely not an easy path to follow, but I'm now confident that the end result will be worth it.

The thing that really excites me about this field is the opportunity to see the wide range of creative ideas that designers come up with. Participating in feedback and critique sessions allows me to learn from my fellow designers as well as offer my own insights on their designs. Prior to studying product design, I thought it would be a very limited and restrictive process. However, I now know that there is a lot of conversation and idea-sharing going on in this profession.

I'm impressed by the many creative possibilities that come with product design, and I'm excited to explore them further. This field always keeps me on my toes, and I can't wait to be a part of its ongoing development.

I've been enjoying developing my design skills recently, I know I have a lot to improve. However, my ideation process has become less judgmental, and my imagination is not limited. I put in all the research to find out if it's the right pursue. It's amazing how much creativity you can unlock when you allow yourself to think outside the box. I'm excited to continue working on my skills to see even more improvement.
